As some of my followers know, I’m also a photographer. I’m promoting my other tumblr here since I have a few followers. It’s been awhile. I think I’ve taken it too lightly on the world. So, it’s about damn time I settle some shit. All I read on the news or facebook is Trayvon Martin this. And Jorge Zimmer… I’m sorry, George Zimmerman that. You know I had to say something when Rev. Al Sharpton touched up his new growth and brought his dusty ass out from under a rock. There’s little Jessie Jackson leading another march. Aren’t we past this shit? I mean really? But, enough about the shitty spokespeople blacks have. Let me break down the situation.

The short of it is a kid in a hoodie is walking down a street in a subdivision on his cell phone in the rain. A neighborhood watch guy sees him and figures he is up to no good. He procedes to call the non emergency police number to report the suspicious activity. He follows the kid, against the better judgement of the operator and somehow he is put into an altercation with this hooded teen. In this altercation the teen is shot and killed because the neighborhood watch guy felt that his life was in danger. Last I heard skittles and iced tea don’t harm you. Its mentos and diet coke. 

Ok, lets be unbias for a moment. So you’re saying that Will Smith when he was on Fresh Prince got into a fight with George Lopez before he lost weight? I can say thats an even fight. But, here’s my issue. The media is portraying Martin as a teen and Zimmerman as a chunky “security guard”. Then there are pictures now of Martin grilled up like Weezy and Zimmerman as if he sells real estate. SE HABLA ESPANOL! COME ON! 

But forget all that. The real issue is simple. If it was two white guys, would there be an issue? If it were two black guys would it even be an issue? If it were two mexicans, would it be an issue? You know what the fucking answer is. No. But mix the races up and now some shits started. Why? Because we haven’t progress as a nation. Because we look for the first thing to jump the fuck off for us to take a side. Why? All this shit does is divide us more as a people. It’s times like this it should really pull us all together.

I’m going to say this. Had Trayvon said something different than what he said, he would be here today. Who’s fault is that? Ours. If George would have got his ass in his car when the operator said you don’t need to do that, he wouldn’t be under investigation for murder. Who’s fault is that? Ours. Why? Because we are the ones raising these people. Raising these “thugs”. Raising these “rejected cops”. It’s our fault shit like this happens. We wait until its too late to fix shit. Now, we wanna rebel and wear hoodies and march and scrutinize shit. We wanna slander each other just to prove our point. When the real issue was right in our face. Us.

Start the change with you. Make sure you say to our kids and other peoples kids whats right and whats wrong. Make sure you lead by example. Show others that you “know how to act”. Yea, I went there. Just like your mama would tell you. Get your mind right. What’s so hard about saying, “I’m going to my stepmom’s house. It’s 1234 Any Street.” Is that too much to ask for? “You know today, I won’t confront this guy. I’ll just watch from over here until the police arrive.”  Simple. Hate me if you want. I’m not picking sides in this. This isn’t a race issue. It’s a people issue. Wake the fuck up. My kids have to live here too. And I’ll be damned if I’m going to let someone else ruin it for them.

Yes I know. I left the light on in the closet. That’s the only way you could travel to my room. I even left the door cracked a little. Sorry for leading you on. I don’t need to be scared tonight. Oh, I know the windows open a little too. That is just for me. No the boogie man won’t come from under the bed to shut the window because you’re cold. Ok I’ll let the bitch from the Ring close the window. As I talk to you I’m getting more scared. Good thing Jacobs in the bed with me. He watches over me while I sleep. I’m not sure what’s worse. Being afraid of the dark or pretending someone from Twilight is in my bed LOL. Night monster.
